Neidlinger Cemetery

The Neidlinger Cemetery is located in the southeast corner of Section 22, Jackson Twp., Clay County, Indiana. It is 3 ¾ miles east of SR 59 and ½ mile south of Interstate 70. It is on the north side of the road just west of CR 300 E and 500N. Ann TARVIN and Helen TARVIN first copied the names from the stones April 29, 1980, for the Genealogy Library.

Doris THOMAS and Fred THOMAS have taken pictures of the stones and created an extremely useful book for the Genealogy Library. Seeing the colored photographs is almost like visiting the cemetery. There is an index of the names from the stones, and beside each photograph is printed the information found on the stone. Several stones are missing since the first reading in 1980; however, listed in the front of the book are the names and information copied for the original cemetery book.

Surnames found in the cemetery are:

CAMERON, DIEL, GILBERT, LATHAM, LUCAS, MYERS, NEIDLINGER, O’NEAL, PAYNE, ROADMAN, ROSE, SHARP,  THOMAS, TILLEY,  TWEWELLA

UPDATED 2018:
Cemetery Restoration: Only the taller stones were visible in the Neidlinger Cemetery’s mass of briars, weeds, vines, and small trees. After nearly three years of work, every stone has been cleaned, and any crooked or fallen ones are standing upright.
